Canton-i @ The Gardens Mall, KL

Mom and little sister shared this Char Siew Fan aka Barbequed Roast Pork Rice. They said it was the best they ever tasted. Seriously.

Dad's RM16 (!) chok aka congee, which was worth every cent.

My steamed rice flour rolls with prawn. Huge prawns, I must add. Soy sauce was good too, but I thought there wasn't enough. Or maybe I was just greedy and finished everything too fast.

Steamed char siew pao. Must-have dim sum.

Another dish we shared: Stir fried udon with something, can't remember my bad.

Lastly, I can never do without my egg tarts. And the ones from Canton-i were lovely.

Met mom's aunt at Midvalley after and she took us to her Pancake House. I'm a sucker for pancakes and waffles so this was a real treat. Above was the Special Waffle with Ice Cream. I can't recall the proper name for it but it was in the special section of the menu. Really huge for a dessert, I reckon. More for sharing between 2-3 persons. But still quite tasty! The waffle is freshly prepared and remains crispy even after a couple of minutes. More ice cream than waffle here, so if you don't like your desserts too sweet try the other offerings instead, or you'd suffer the consequences of a major sugar rush. ;P

Italiannies @ The Gardens Mall

Sorry for the grainy photos, used my camera phone this time.
Foccacia bread, complimentary, very fragrant and gone in 3 minutes.

They did it old school, with olive oil and vinegar to dip.

Shared a Classic Pizza with the sister. Classic = chicken sausage, capsicums, tomato sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms. The verdict:  For a highly acclaimed Italian restaurant, I went in with pretty high expectations after hearing rave reviews about the place, and this thin-crusted beauty did not disappoint.

Delicious @ 1 Utama, KL

I absolutely love this place. Only been here twice, this being the second. The first was a year ago. (yes, a year!) Such a long gap in between, but the food was still as delisioso as the first time. Come on, with a name like that, how can you go wrong with the food? Exhibit A:

Tried the Gado-gado. It's an Indonesian salad with loads of cabbage, long beans, carrots, bean sprouts, emping (crackers), cucumber, potato, did I miss out anything? Oh, and eggs. Imagine all of the above, eaten together with the amazing peanut sauce (Mom mentioned they must have added in peanut butter to give the rich consistency). Sort of like satay, but a vegetarian version. All together now, DE-LI-CIOUS!

Now can you guess what this is? Doh, it's a burger, I know that! But what's in it?

One of the best burgers I've had. The Portobello Mushroom Burger. You'll never see mushrooms the same way again. Bring on the Portobello mushrooms!
P.s. The grilled tomatoes in the the burger were soooooo good! Not too soggy, like the sunblush kind Nigella always makes on her show. Yummy.

Apple Strudel

Every CNY, my uncle would buy back something (sweet usually, as I’ve developed an extremely sweet tooth since young) from KL. This year, it was apple strudel! Honestly, just give me anything with apples and sugar and I’ll be off to foodie heaven.

Best eaten cold. Very flaky pastry, so you better be quick or all that apple-y goodness would just fall apart. 4/5
