Cedele Revisited @ Wheelock Place

This is seriously the best vegetarian meal I've ever had. Amazing. Presenting the famous beetroot burger from Cedele. Thanks Liani for recommending!

Just take a look at that! The beetroot patty was a refreshing change, it didn't taste odd at all. In fact, it had a tangy curry flavour that left me grinning from ear to ear till the last bite!

Ah. The red velvet definitely did not disappoint. Lovely, the cream cheese was not too overwhelming, and the   cake itself was super addictive. I love my red velvet. I'm so having red velvet for my wedding cake. 

Kong Heng Coffee Shop @ Ipoh

We always, and I mean, ALWAYS, stop by Ipoh for our food stops whenever we go outstation and it's on the way. The food is just too good! Above: Dad's favourite, the Ipoh Kuey Teow with chicken. He orders this every time, never gets sick of it.

Above: Poh piah. Not the soggy kind, like you get in Penang, but it's not too dry either, with loads of bangkuang (radish) and some homemade chili. Finished one whole poh piah within seconds. Really good.

Sister and mom both had curry mee. Smelled awesome. There were loads of condiments inside, more than what I see usually, including taupok, fish balls, fried sweet potato/yam?

And this time we tried something different, another famous dish, the Sotong Kangkong. Boy, have we been missing out on the good stuff! 

Just take a look at that. The curry was really, really good. I found myself eating at least half of the plate.

Canton-i @ The Gardens Mall, KL

Mom and little sister shared this Char Siew Fan aka Barbequed Roast Pork Rice. They said it was the best they ever tasted. Seriously.

Dad's RM16 (!) chok aka congee, which was worth every cent. 

My steamed rice flour rolls with prawn. Huge prawns, I must add. Soy sauce was good too, but I thought there wasn't enough. Or maybe I was just greedy and finished everything too fast. 

Steamed char siew pao. Must-have dim sum.

Another dish we shared: Stir fried udon with something, can't remember my bad.

Lastly, I can never do without my egg tarts. And the ones from Canton-i were lovely. 

Met mom's aunt at Midvalley after and she took us to her Pancake House. I'm a sucker for pancakes and waffles so this was a real treat. Above was the Special Waffle with Ice Cream. I can't recall the proper name for it but it was in the special section of the menu. Really huge for a dessert, I reckon. More for sharing between 2-3 persons. But still quite tasty! The waffle is freshly prepared and remains crispy even after a couple of minutes. More ice cream than waffle here, so if you don't like your desserts too sweet try the other offerings instead, or you'd suffer the consequences of a major sugar rush. ;P

Italiannies @ The Gardens Mall

Foccacia bread, complimentary, very fragrant and gone in 3 minutes.

They did it old school, with olive oil and vinegar to dip.

Shared a Classic Pizza with the sister. Classic = chicken sausage, capsicums, tomato sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms. The verdict:  For a highly acclaimed Italian restaurant, I went in with pretty high expectations after hearing rave reviews about the place, and this thin-crusted beauty did not disappoint. 

Hakka Tree @ Tesco Tanjung Pinang, Penang

A must-have when you're eating Hakka - Thunder Tea Rice. A vegetarian's heaven.

The soup that came with the rice set. 

Shared a bowl of prawn dumplings or sui kow with my sister. Really tasty!

My hakka noodles. Aren't flat and wide noodles better than those yellow round ones? Loved it.

Ice Cream Cakes @ Island Creamery, King Albert Park

I think this was the Chocolate Mudpie? The only chocolate cake that comes with ice cream, according to my sister. Can't remember much cause I was too distracted by the gorgeous display of cakes. 

Can you see all three layers of ice cream? 

Milky goodness in a cake. And you have your Oreo bits to complete it.

Bombe Alaska!

Man, I can't remember when's the last time I had this dessert. I think a long, long time ago when I was still a kid, at the Penang Club. Those were the days. Anyway, this beauty came with ice cream! Think it was some blueberry and vanilla flavour. Really, really good. Droolworthy as it may be, I totally forgot to snap a picture of what's inside. Sorry guys.

Grandma's Restaurant @ Raffles City

Honey Chicken

Belacan Mixed Vegetables - Had petai, long beans, eggplant; all my favourite veggies! Tasted great.

Claypot Tofu - This was as good as any good ol' tze char place.

And for dessert, Chendol! There's a promotion for 60 cents chendol with any main dish ordered. Really worth it. They even gave a tiny jug of gula melaka. Which was too much for the three of us, honestly. But still good though. Two thumbs up. 

Delicious Cafe @ Straits Quay - Part III

Okay I know I've written about Delicious at Straits Quay before, but trust me, one visit is NEVER enough. Not when there are so many other dishes (especially desserts) to try!

Crispy Fried Mushrooms - RM12.90

Not bad for a fungus. Haha! lame I know.

Sister's Nasi Kerabu with Ayam Percik - RM22.90

Now everyone wanted a taste of this.

Seriously Delicious Cheeseburger - RM24.90

I can haz cheeseburger!

Hainanese Chicken Chop - RM19.90

Grilled Medley of Vegetables with Pesto on Toasted Ciabatta - RM19.90

Okay, the menu clearly stated 'toasted' but it didn't taste like it at all. Minus points from me.

Veggies were tasty though. You get asparagus, tomato, capsicums, avocado, broccoli, mushrooms, etc.

Desserts! Banoffee Pie was mom's choice.

Can't really see but there you go, the inner workings of a pie. 

Carrot cake for Zhen and I. We are in a carrot cake phase now, so this was a must order. And it didn't disappoint at all! Moist and smothered with heavenly cream cheese, I absolutely loved this.

And Tiramisu for the babe. I've tried this before and it was divine. Much better than Starbucks.

PappaRich @ Straits Quay

My red bean ice. Much better than the same one at KimGary. Highly recommended.

Vegetarian pao. Served steaming hot and fluffy, the filling is really aromatic, just like your regular char siew pao but with 'mock' meat. This time I thought the bread tasted weird though.

Noodles with dry curry chicken. Good order, wasn't too spicy for my sister too.

Lastly, nasi lemak. Don't worry if the gravy's not enough (and trust me, it WILL be not enough), you can always request for more. At no extra charge ;)

Northam Beach Cafe

Okay, I have to admit that I'm actually quite 'noob' when it comes to Penang hawker fare. You ask me where's the best laksa and I'll tell you Mount Erskine. Haha. I don't like the oil, my sister doesn't like the less than pristine surroundings, and we generally don't crave hawker food. But lately we found a new hawker joint  that has successfully won us over.

Guess what my sister had for dinner.

 The French stall offered set meals with any of the main courses. In other words, you get a soup. Figures.

She ordered the Croque Monsieur. Ham and cheese sandwich at its French-iest.

Pan Mee! I can never resist this favourite of mine. However, the Pan Mee here failed to impress. The noodles were slightly rubbery, and the wood fungus tasted a bit off. The only good part was the homemade fish ball, Mom and I both agreed they were excellent.

Seafood Popiah. Was average, nothing special about it.

Pie Tee, didn't try this but it looked appetizing enough!

Muar Chee. From the famous Muar Chee stall that offers a whole lot of unique flavours you won't get anywhere else.

Time for desserts!

Crepes with chocolate sauce, from the French stall. Little sister finished this all by herself! Conclusion: it was great.

I also ordered an apple cinnamon crepe. The apple cinnamon mixture was not too sweet, and gave a very mild, tangy taste. Not bad for RM4.50!

Mom and Dad had banana pancakes, Penang style. Ban chang kuih, in other words. My mom loves this, she couldn't stop raving about how crispy the crust was.
