Cedele Revisited @ Wheelock Place

This is seriously the best vegetarian meal I've ever had. Amazing. Presenting the famous beetroot burger from Cedele. Thanks Liani for recommending!

Just take a look at that! The beetroot patty was a refreshing change, it didn't taste odd at all. In fact, it had a tangy curry flavour that left me grinning from ear to ear till the last bite!

Ah. The red velvet definitely did not disappoint. Lovely, the cream cheese was not too overwhelming, and the   cake itself was super addictive. I love my red velvet. I'm so having red velvet for my wedding cake.

Cedele @ Takashimaya, Orchard and Medzs @ Orchard Central, Somerset

My absolutely delish grilled chicken sandwich with avocado and pumpkin bread. You must try the pumpkin bread, seriously it's the best I've had. And which other eatery offers pumpkin bread?!

Shared a rich and tasty Wild Mushroom Soup. The picture doesn't show how huge this bowl was. Three girls could share one of this. And that's pretty decent considering it's 9 bucks per bowl, plus the free flow of bread from the counter.

Carol's Spiced Carrot soup. Smelled pretty good, didn't try it though.

Carol's Turkey Bacon and Avocado. I love, love, love avocado so this must have been good too. It's one of their Must-tries on the menu.

Dinner: Medzs at Orchard Central. Been quite a regular since I found out about this place. Plus, I get a 25% discount till end Aug! Really worth it, compared to that other Swedish place (heheh) Above: Mixed Grill of Lamb and Beef. From the kebab counter.

I forgot what this was. It's from the kebab counter too. Very popular choice I noticed, and you should go early to avoid the crowds and queues.

Kim Gary Cafe @ Gurney Plaza

I've blogged about this place before, so I'll just keep the photo post short and simple.
Above: French Fries with Seaweed Mix.

Fish Fillet Burger in Macau Style.

Tomato and egg sandwich.

I always order this. Red bean lover on the loose.
Above: Red bean ice.

Coffee Bean @ Island Plaza

On weekdays, lunches are late and short. We don't really have that many options when it comes to places to grab a quick bite. Today, we chose Coffee Bean at Island, since we literally live 5 minutes away. Plus, aren't gourmet sandwiches the best?

Check out my sister's yummy Double Patty sandwich with ciabatta bread.

Mom and I shared a Turkey with Melted Cheese sandwich with pita bread. The sandwich was surprisingly really good, inside you get a couple of layers of turkey ham, sliced thinly. I also love the side salad they serve, especially the sweetish dressing. On a side note, they don't always have all the breads available, like the Panini or the Foccacia, which kind of ticked me off a little. There were only pita and ciabatta on the day we visited. I mean, come on. Y U NO restock?

Ah, dessert. Couldn't resist, what with those lovely cakes staring right at me through the display.

Had the Red Velvet Cake. Not as good as it looked. First off, it was as hard as a walnut. Besides that, the cake was dry and lacked the 'oomph' factor that most cakes have. How disappointing, Coffee Bean.

Cakes @ Cedele, Raffles City

Yum. Carrot cake is my comfort food. Given a choice, I would definitely eat carrot cake every day. Seriously. This was as heavenly as it looked. Topped with a thick layer of oh so glorious cream cheese, and smothered with lots and lots of walnuts. This one's a keeper.

OMG HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY TAKE A LOOK AT THAT AND NOT DROOL?

And our second cake. Chocolate Banana Espresso. Just as great as the carrot. Looked too indulgent or 'jelak' at first glance, but it turned out to be a pretty light cake. The chocolate sponge was complemented nicely with a layer of sweet banana. That's cereal on the top, by the way. Nice touch, but I wouldn't call it the highlight of the cake. Aha.

Hong Kong Food Trip Part VIII : Breakfast at Delifrance

I know what you're thinking.
"Delifrance in Hong Kong?! That's ridiculous! Why would I want to have breakfast there when I should be having a traditional dimsum meal or something?"
Well, sometimes you just crave your Western breakfast. And this was one of those times.
Above is the Apple Strudel I ordered. Being the sugar lover I am, I thoroughly enjoyed this. The puff pastry may have been a little too flaky ( I hate it when everything just falls apart and all you're left with is the inner layer) but the sweet apple filling was delish! Not sour at all.

Sisters ordered the same set, their breakfast sandwich. Served toasted and crispy, this is without a doubt one of the best meals to start your day.

Cheese, ham and eggs. What more can you ask for in a breakfast sandwich? :)

Gelare @ Orchard Central, Singapore

 Vo-la-re, whoa-oh! Can-ta-re, whoa-oh-oh-oh!

Mom's gotten the song into my head, jeez. She couldn't stop singing it after coming here because of the uncanny (wait are there even any?) similarities to GELARE.
Gelare, the place most famed for its Tuesdays. Also known as Waffle Tuesdays, when you get all their waffles (even the special ones) half price! You are induced to drool once you step into the cafe, with pictures of its many yummy sundaes adorning the walls.
We came on a Friday afternoon, wanting to avoid the crazy lunch hour pandemonium happening at the upper east side of Orchard Road. Don't ever go there during these times, it's friggin' chaotic, having to look all over for a nice place to eat but finding out that everywhere just happens to be fully occupied to the brim. So Orchard Central it is. I don't understand why most locals do not patronise the place, it's a really swanky mall! Cool layout, vintage shops, toilets are high tech, food's aplenty. And oh yeah, did I mention robotoilets?
Okay, enough nonsense. Back to lunch.

BLT sandwich with foccacia bread. The little sister ordered this. What a surprise for us to hear the waiter say, 'yes, it's available'. A particular coffee outlet here in Penang, cough'rhymeswithtoffeebean'cough, would always make up some excuse for not being able to serve this. I mean, the first few times are acceptable, but not if it happens every single time?! Ish. So you can imagine how my sister felt when she had her first bite. Pure joy.

By the way, if you're wondering what the BLT stands for, it's Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato.

Mom and I shared the Grilled Chicken sandwich with multigrain bread. The bread tasted just as good as the one we order from Rainforest Bakery. Not bad, for a humble sandwich.

And then came the desserts. Swoon...

And more swooning...
BTW, it's a Cookie Craze Sundae. Perfect for the Oreo-Mcflurry lover little sister.

And although it wasn't even close to a Tuesday, we couldn't resist the lovely waffles.
Heaven on earth. Look, you can even see the clouds! - lame : \

Screw diets. Every bite of this crispy, sinful delight is definitely worth it.

Cupcake Cafe @ One Stop

Looks good, doesn't it? Homemade tomato soup with garlic bread. The soup is so rich and authentic, much nicer than the canned ones. I've never had a tomato soup which wasn't diluted before, so this was definitely 5 stars to me. And the BREAD! Oh my, they were so crispy you can make garlic chips out of them. Seriously.

Satay set. Mom's favourite. So I assume it's good. (I mean, good enough for her to order it every single time)

And another closeup. Sorry the quality's well, bad, forgot my camera so used the phone instead. But just trust me when I say the food here is great.

Marble cake for dessert. I know, I know, why did I choose such a common cake? Hmm. It may look ordinary but it tastes great. Chocolate swirls and butter cake definitely make a perfect combination. And it was my lucky day, as the cake was just freshly baked!

By the way, they also have cupcakes (well, it's called CUPCAKE cafe for a reason :P), chocolate cake (!!!), banana cake, curry puffs, nasi lemak, western meals and etc, etc. The location's good too. Even though Penang has basically morphed into the Sahara desert these past few months, the breeze at this place is amazing. Literally blows you away. Ha.

Cake Craze @ Starbucks.

Ipanema.
Me and my mom absolutely lurrve this.
Our 'must eat!' cake, the one you must throw your diet away for.

Just look at all those layers!
Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate...

Behold, the Tiramisu.
This one is just BOOMZ. With a Z.
Oh yeah, the little sis can finish this in 1 minute.

Black Forest.
Not as good as the previous two, a little dry and sour but still better than those store bought cakes.
Speaking of, aren't they all? :)

SiTigun Cafe @ Nagore Road

My mom's good friend has been raving about this place for quite a while
before we finally gave it a try this morning. Here's what we ordered:

Croissants (their specialty, baked daily) - RM 4.20
3/5

My vanilla muffin with walnuts (can't recall the price, sorry!)
3/5 - Muffin was a bit on the petite side,
compared to my favourite humongous ones from Starbucks.
However, I could actually taste the vanilla (which was really aromatic-a bonus!)
AND it was loaded with walnuts.

Paired it with an espresso.
Whoa their coffee is really strong (felt super energetic after that)
so you might want a single shot instead of a double.
Gotta give them props for grounding the coffee beans themselves though. :)

They open everyday except Mondays.
Details as well as the entire menu can be found on their official website.

I love my Starbucks.

'Nuff said. :)
